Movements require that people believe in your vision. The highest form is self aware.
Getting students to be highly successfull productive members of society
when they graduate. Transformational.
Getting the CEP done Transactional.
Political Transformation -- Desegregation, curriculum changes outside norm,
Behavior and practice is transformational
-- not just the slogan
Hard Self
Soft Self
You need to find balance -- the scale of these goals.
It is more helpful to know how to move on the continium than to be in one place.
LAI results are more complicated than they would seem. Most of the mental models are outdated.

Setting kids up for this type of learning must take place in a new paradigm. We need to be less grim and more filled with joy.
Management vs Leadership Activities
Look at all the threads to see more deeply beyond the surface of things
This is called envisioning and is something that we do not do enough.
We need to imagine schools that are healthy.
Tranformational leadership is the ability to imagine something better and to make it happen. Can you see the future. It is an experience in reality.
Transformation sometimes can take a long before it manifests.
Transformational leadsers need to make sure that they trust and listen to their trasactional leaders.
POLICY BRIEFS
1. Goal Setting: Whats the problem? Whats our goal?
2. Research: What data do I need to understand the obstacles?
3. Diagnosis: What information is relevant/What conclusions can be drawn?
4. Feedback: Who are your stakehoders? What is their stake?Consequence of your decision?
5. Decision Planning: How will you decide (Decision model) and Develop 3 options for solving the problem.
6. Intervention: What is our plan of action?
Evaluation/Benchmarking: THIS REQUIRES NUMBERS OR DATA (BASELINE INTERVENTION, POSTTEST) How will we know if we are succeeding? Description of specific expected outcomes, success indicators.
***remember that variance gives us information.
